University Standing Committees and Task Forces

Duties

Serve as liaison between the academic divisions and their faculties and the Athletic Department's Center for Athletic Student Services; advise the Director of the Center for Athletic Student Services on established University academic and student policies and on the development and maintenance of academic policies relating to student-athletes; provide ongoing advice, guidance, and support to the Center for Athletic Student Services on those matters relating to University academic programs, processes, and procedures.

Composition

This committee consists of ten members including faculty and staff who represent a cross section of academic divisions and support units and the President and Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board.  Its chairperson is a member serving the third year of a term on the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee.  A member serving the second year of a term on the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee shall also serve on the Academics and Athletics Committee, becoming its chairperson in the subsequent year.  In addition to this membership, the Assistant Academic Vice President and the chairperson of the Faculty Senate's Academic Affairs Committee shall serve as ex officio members.  The Director of the Center for Athletic Student Services, a representative from the Records Office, a representative from Residential Life, and a representative from the Center for Teaching and Learning shall serve as liaison members.
