Committee participation by faculty and staff members is vital to the life of our institution. Each year, the University of Alabama Committee on University Committees is responsible for making recommendations to the President concerning the membership of various University Standing Committees.
In general, an appointment to a University level Standing Committee is a three-year commitment. In some cases, however, the Committee on University Committees may find it necessary to make recommendations for shorter terms (i.e., one-year or two-year) appointments to fill vacancies which may occur due to retirements or resignations.
